Shooting Star CHASE is the children’s hospice service for western London, Surrey and West Sussex. It supports over 500 local families with children and teenagers not expected to reach their 19th birthday.
The hospice has no guaranteed government funding so it relies on donations to raise the £23,000 a day it costs to operate its vital service. The care Shooting Star CHASE provides is entirely free to the families it supports.
To assist the organisation in its challenging mission, avsnet installed a new multi-function meeting space to aid its fundraising, improve collaboration and increase staff morale.
What Else Was Provided?
Alongside general meetings, the room is used by the organisation’s fundraising teams when meeting with prospective funders, as well as for internal workforce training. Having access to a meeting room that can cope with a wide range of functions ensures it is never out of use.
Paul Bartlett, IT Project Manager at Shooting Star CHASE, said, “We rely entirely on the generosity of the public for our operational costs so having a professional space is critical to our mission. When we invite potential funders to our organisation, our team can be proud of the room avsnet has installed. It definitely allows us to convey our message in a modern, engaging way using the latest audio visual technology.”
avsnet installed a mounted projector for presentations, a motorised drop-down screen that can be retracted when the room needs to be used as a standard meeting space, and standard multimedia equipment including a DVD player and audio system.
Everything is operated via a user-friendly wall mounted control touch-panel that was donated from Crestron.
Bartlett concluded, “The room’s system is extremely easy to use and it’s always available. Prior to avsnet’s installation, our IT support department used to have to help users regularly. Now individuals are able to enter the room and control its programmed features without taking up our IT department’s time.”
